Tucson - The Old Pueblo
Tucson - a name derived from the indigenous Tohono O’odham “Cuk Son,” their name for Sentinel mountain. It is a city with deep roots dating back to 1775 when it was originally established as a military presidio, San Augustin del Tucson. Affectionately known as The Old Pueblo, it became part of the United States in 1853 as part of the Gadsden purchase which included the Arizona territory, and was briefly the territory capitol from 1867 to 1877. In this podcast, we aim to bring you the history of all things Tucson along with current events and an eye toward the future. We hope you enjoy!
